ESTJ

Myers Briggs is a personality test.  I took it and ended up being ESTJ: extravert (E), sensing (S), thinking (T), judgment (J)  I was both an extrovert and an Introvert.  More of an extrovert.  It is important to know what you are, so you understand yourself, but to also know people who are different from you are work.  We all  know that our coworkers are going to be different from us.  If one understands the way they are, then it will be for the best at work.  Since you will have to spend eight hours a day with them. Being an extrovert, it is important to not be  afraid to talk to someone new.  In todays society you need to be comfortable with talking to anyone. When put into a leadership role, one should be able to speak in front of a crowd of people to spread the message.   I am able to do so.  I am very sensible making smart decisions.  I am always thinking ahead.  When I go into a communication field, I will always need to think ten steps ahead.  People will count on me, especially if I am work on a project with a team. Having judgment is crucial because you can not make errors in the communication, or the work place in general.. One will be out of a job.  In leadership, one needs to have judgment because people who listen to you and you guide them, will trust your judgment.  Therefore not having good judgment is a not desirable trait.  Which letters are you?

Roosevelt's Speech

Franklin Roosevelt made many mistakes during his presidency, like most people and presidents do. The important thing is that he accomplished items, so it all kind of balanced out.   He had the fireside talks, which meant people including family and friends would gather to listen to him speak.  Bringing together people is an important quality to have in a president.  Bringing people together takes leadership.  When I was hearing the gentlemen speak about Roosevelt’s leadership.  I felt compelled to learn more about Franklin Roosevelt.  The speakers talked about the meaning of the importance of leadership.

Typical Day at the Octagon House Museum

I usually arrive at the Octagon House  Museum at 8:30 AM.  I am always the first one to arrive at the museum, here even before my boss arrives.  I start the coffee and tea for everyone.  I look at the list of past American Institute Architect Scholarship recipients and look them up on the internet.  At the museum, we do not have any of the recipients’ contact information.  I search for them on linkedin to see where they are employed.  Once I find them, I contact them to see if they would be willing to be interviewed.  If they agree to be interviewed, I set a date and a time to call for their interview.  I ask if they would agree for the interview to be recorded.  During the interview I inquire about their careers and how the scholarship helped them through school.  After I finish with the interview, I listen to the recording of the interview, and transcribe it.  Once in a while, I write press releases for the Octagon House Museum.  The communication team, of which I am a part, updates the social media accounts daily, and comes up with new ideas to post on the sites.

Goals

Being an effective communicator is very much needed in everyday life. Whether its talking ro the public, or to other businesses.  In my time in D.C.  I want to be a better communicator at both work and in everyday life in "the big city."  When I graduate from college this coming may I would like to find a job in the east c0ast, therefore I need to network.  Networking is so important for college students to meet people in the world.  I want to be more efficient in delegating because once I have a real job, I am going to have to be in charge of lots of tasks.  My boss is not going to let me slide if I do not accomplish everything.  Since I am still in college it is my time to learn.
